The Costa Mesa Sanitary District (CMSD) has once again been recognized for excellence in financial reporting, earning the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025.
The GFOA award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. It recognizes agencies that demonstrate a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and full financial disclosure.
This marks the 15th consecutive year CMSD has received this prestigious honor. CMSD’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report was evaluated by an impartial panel and found to meet the program’s rigorous standards, which go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.
“CMSD is committed to openness, transparency, and fiscal accountability,” said Michael Scheafer, President of the CMSD Board of Directors. “This award reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of our Finance Team to maintaining the highest standards in governmental accounting and financial reporting.”
CMSD’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025 is available for viewing on the District’s website.
