The City of Lynwood is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Maximous, P.E., T.E., as its new Public Works Director, effective July 20, 2026. Maximous brings more than 20 years of experience in public infrastructure, transportation engineering, and municipal leadership.
As Public Works Director, Maximous will oversee the City’s Public Works Department, leading the planning, maintenance, and improvement of Lynwood’s infrastructure while advancing projects that enhance mobility, public safety, sustainability, and quality of life for residents.
Maximous most recently served as Mobility and Traffic Engineering Manager for the City of Culver City, where he directed division operations, managed a $2.5 million annual budget, supervised professional staff, and presented complex infrastructure initiatives to elected officials, community organizations, and the public. Prior to Culver City, he served as Principal Traffic Engineer and City Traffic Engineer for the City of Santa Monica, where he managed more than $20 million in transportation infrastructure projects, oversaw the modernization of the city’s traffic signal system and fiber optic network, and helped deliver innovative pedestrian and bicycle improvements throughout the community.
A licensed Professional Engineer and Traffic Engineer in California, Maximous holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Throughout his career, he has also served on numerous regional transportation committees, contributing to initiatives that improve mobility and roadway safety across California.
