The League of California Cities, Los Angeles County Division, representing cities in Los Angeles County, installed its new Board of Directors on Thursday, Aug. 6, in a ceremony at the Bell Community Center.

Bell Mayor Ana Maria Quintana was sworn in as President of the Division after serving on its Executive Board.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn gave special remarks and former California Supreme Court Justice Honorable Carlos R. Moreno (Ret.) administered the oath of office to Mayor Quintana and the entire Los Angeles County Division Executive Officers.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Bell on the Division’s Board of Directors and appreciate the chance to lead as President”, said Ana Maria Quintana. “I look forward to working with the other cities in the Division to make the organization an even stronger voice for the cities we represent.”

Mayor Quintana was first elected to the Bell City Council in 2011 in the wake of a historic municipal corruption scandal. She has focused her tenure on government transparency and civic engagement. Ana Maria is Of Counsel with a law firm providing guidance to municipal governments like water boards and school districts in the areas of Land Use, Labor & Employment, the California Public Records Act and the Brown Act.

“We are pleased to install Ana Maria as our Division President and know her experience and knowledge will be a great asset to the Division in the coming year,” said Jennifer Quan, division executive director. “Her leadership in Los Angeles County is important to advancing the strategic priorities of Cal Cities and of cities throughout the state.”

  • Regional Director – San Fernando Valley COG: Mary Mendoza, Council Member, San Fernando
  • Regional Director – San Gabriel Valley COG: Margaret Clark, Council Member, Rosemead

The Los Angeles County Division is the largest of 16 regional divisions of the League of California Cities and is comprised of the cities in Los Angeles County, from the smallest (City of Vernon) to the largest (City of Los Angeles) of the state’s 483 cities. The Los Angeles County Division is guided by an executive committee under the leadership of a division president. Elected city officials and professional city staff attend division meetings throughout the year to share what they are doing and advocate for their interests in Sacramento and regionally. The Division provides its members with information and resources to assist in providing high-quality service to cities and residents.
