The California City Management Foundation is excited to announce that its annual New & Future City Managers Seminar will take place Nov. 4-6, 2026, at the Westin Pasadena. Applications are now open, and the deadline to apply is Aug. 14.

“The New & Future City Managers Seminar offers emerging leaders a rare opportunity to learn directly from seasoned city managers in an open and supportive setting,” said CCMF Executive Director Ken Pulskamp. “Beyond gaining practical tools for the job, participants develop relationships with peers and mentors who can serve as valuable resources throughout their careers.”

The seminar is one of CCMF’s signature professional development programs for recently appointed city managers and individuals preparing to step into the role. Through an immersive, multi-day experience, participants explore the complex realities of city management with guidance from experienced local government leaders.

Sessions address key areas such as budgeting and financial management, council and community relations, legal considerations, communications, organizational leadership and navigating political environments.

Limited to 25 participants, the seminar is intentionally designed to encourage meaningful dialogue and connection. Attendees stay at the same hotel and take part in facilitated discussions, shared meals and networking activities that foster honest conversations, peer learning and long-term professional relationships.

How to Apply

You do not need to be a CCMF member to apply. The cost to participate is $750 for CCMF members and $1,150 for non-members. This includes meals, lodging and seminar materials.

To submit your application, please email the following materials to the NFCM team at NFCM@cacitymanagers.org before Aug. 14:

  • A letter of interest explaining why you would benefit from attending the NFCM Seminar
  • Your resume

CCMF aims to notify applicants of their selection status by early September, allowing ample time for payment, travel arrangements and time-off requests.

Non-members accepted into the NFCM Seminar will be granted membership in CCMF upon payment and registration.
