Beginning Sept. 1, the City of Hawthorne will welcome Hawthorne Utility Management, LLC, powered by WaterWorkforce, as the new operator for the city’s municipal water system. This transition marks the conclusion of California Water Service’s (Cal Water) contract with the City of Hawthorne in providing operations, maintenance and billing services. Golden State Water customers are not affected by this transition.
Water service for residents and local businesses will continue flowing without disruption during and after the operator transition. Citizens of Hawthorne will continue to receive the same safe and reliable water supply as the source and quality standards, monthly rates and fees remain the same. Hawthorne Utility Management is committed to continue providing residents with safe, dependable water service.
“Our main priority throughout this transition is ensuring that the community of Hawthorne experiences zero service interruptions,” said Selena Acuna, City of Hawthorne Public Works Manager. “We are confident in Hawthorne Utility Management’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable water to our residents.”
By Sept. 1, monthly water statements will come directly from Hawthorne Utility Management instead of California Water Service. Any remaining balances, credits or deposits on existing Cal Water accounts will remain with Cal Water. For any questions or concerns regarding final bills, please directly contact Cal Water. As part of the administrative change, each customer will be provided with a new account number, which will appear on their first bill from Hawthorne Utility Management.
Customers who previously used autopay or paperless billing with Cal Water will need to re-register and re-enroll once the new billing platform goes into effect. Account holders are requested to wait until they receive their first bill from Hawthorne Utility Management before attempting to set up online payment options.
For questions regarding final bills, credits or deposits, contact Cal Water. For questions regarding water utility service or billing following Sept. 1, please contact info@hawthorneutility.com or call Public Works at 310-349-2980.
