At its regular board meeting on August 18, 2026, the SCV Water Board of Directors adopted conservation program updates in support of the recently adopted Water Use Efficiency Strategic Plan. The updates are intended to increase water savings, bolster customer support, and raise customer participation in the Agency’s conservation programs.

Among the updates is a significant increase to the Lawn Replacement Program rebate that participating customers receive. The revamped program now offers a $5 per square foot incentive for converting from grass to water-efficient landscaping, up from the previous $3 per square foot.

“We are excited to offer increased rebates and new conservation services that deliver even greater value to our customers,” said Matt Dickens, Sustainability Manager. “Whether replacing a lawn, upgrading irrigation equipment, or improving indoor water efficiency, these program enhancements help customers save water, save money, and make a positive impact on our community’s water future.”

Additional updates to the conservation program include:

  • Increased drip irrigation conversion rebates from $0.75/square foot to $1/square foot
  • Increased residential smart controller rebates from up to $150 (limit 1 controller) to up to $350 (up to $250 for 1st controller, and up to $100 for 2nd controller)
  • Improved Residential Home Water Efficiency Kits (up from a value of $35 to $65)
  • New residential irrigation tune-ups, including leak repairs, home efficiency nozzle installation, and drip kits
