City of Vacaville Assistant City Manager GeorgeAnne Meggers-Smith has announced her intent to retire in November 2026, concluding nearly 20 years of service to the City of Vacaville.
During her tenure with the City, Meggers-Smith has served the community in the City Manager’s Office, Administrative Services and Parks and Recreation Departments. She began with the City in 2007 as a management analyst. She rose through the ranks, making a transition to the City Manager’s Office in 2020, where she supported citywide services as a program manager and deputy city manager and was appointed assistant city manager in 2022.
Meggers-Smith has contributed to numerous organizational and community initiatives throughout her nearly two decades of service, helping advance key City priorities and major projects. Her accomplishments include leading the development of the Vacaville Neighborhood Associations program to strengthen connections between residents and the City; implementing the City’s Extreme Weather Warming Center to provide shelter and support during periods of severe weather; and serving as the Parks and Recreation Director and championing the partnership with Landify to build the Centennial Park Bike Park. She also led the City’s work with Bloomberg Philanthropies to develop a three-year data strategy and evaluation program, helping build a stronger foundation for data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
As assistant city manager, she has worked closely with the city manager and City departments, supported the organization through transitions in city management and collaborated with community partners to strengthen organizational operations and enhance the delivery of services to the Vacaville community.

I look forward to spending more time with my children and grandchildren and traveling the world!”
City Manager Savita Chaudhary recognized Meggers-Smith for her leadership and longstanding service to the organization.

Meggers-Smith will continue serving as assistant city manager through her retirement in November. No decisions have been made regarding her replacement.
