The tenure of San Diego Mayor Bob Filner is not exactly going as he planned as he has been embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal that has people calling for his immediate resignation. Details of his sordid sexual misconduct continue to come to light, including the admission that his former fiancée broke off their engagement due to continuous infidelities, abusiveness, and disrespect.
The odd Filner-affair has continued to grow over the last six days, when the first allegations were raised. At the time, Filner apologized for his “inappropriate and wrong” treatment of women. His near admission-of-guilt surprised many, but since then Filner has taken a much more hard-lined approach to his defense.
Yesterday at a press conference, reporters learned details of Filner’s encounters with three women, including a constituent, a campaign volunteer, and a mayoral staffer. In at least once case, Filner is accused for forcibly kissing a woman. All three accuse Filner of groping.
The latest blow, however, was the accusation from his former fiancée that Filner had repeatedly cheated on her in sexual relationships and that was one of the reasons that she had called off their engagement.
