Last week’s Legislative Alert contained information on a package of bills introduced in the state Legislature arising out of the abuses uncovered in the City of Bell.

These bills will move fast, with expected policy hearings sometime this week and final passage expected before the end of the legislative session on August 31.

Special districts and other local entities have been receiving requests from media to release salary and compensation information about their elected and appointed officials, in addition to their general managers and other employees.

CSDA has created a section at www.csda.net for our members to learn more about the package of bills recently introduced, in addition to other transparency resources that may be helpful to districts as they prepare for current public records requests and new requirements next year mandated by the state.

Also, see what other districts are doing to increase transparency and provide their communities with compensation information about their public officials and employees.

Go there now by visiting www.csda.net and logging in. Once you’ve logged in, find the link for “Transparency Resources” under the Legislative Resources section in the column under CSDA Members Login.
