Eliminates language that prohibited all elective medical, dental and surgical procedures
In a 4-1 vote, the Beverly Hills City Council tonight approved an amendment to its March 16 urgency ordinance that prohibited all elective medical, dental and surgical procedures in the City during the COVID-19 local emergency.
As a result, the City will now fall under State and County guidelines, which do not prohibit elective procedures, but rather encourage their suspension.
Last week, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that hospitals could resume delayed medical care for Californians. This delayed care includes procedures such as heart valve replacements, angioplasty and tumor removals as well as key preventive care services such as colonoscopies.
