Known as the “Pride of the Foothills,” the City of Glendora (pop.52,588), is located approximately 27 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The Public Works Department is supported by an annual FY2023-24 budget of $27 million and 45 staff. Reporting to the Public Works Director, the Assistant Public Works Director – Water provides leadership and oversight for the Water Division. 

Glendora seeks a strategic leader with a deep understanding of municipal water operations and a collaborative approach to working with industry partners on regional issues. The ideal candidate will have exceptional capital project experience complemented by outstanding people management skills and an appreciation for community engagement.

Candidates will possess any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills. A typical path includes a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field and five years of progressively responsible public works management experience. Registration as a California Civil Engineer and experience overseeing construction projects is required.
