The Mayor of the Sutton, Nebraska is in hot water after being released from jail, where he had been arrested and booked on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.

The case involved a forced open door at a house and a missing flat screen television. It didn’t take long for police to make the connection between the Mayor and the victim: it was his estranged wife. After conducting a search of the Mayor’s home, they placed him under arrest.

The mayor of Sutton, Neb., got a good look Wednesday at law enforcement in action, after being arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property.

Mayor Robert Hale, 50, was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol following a report that someone had forced open a door to the home of his estranged wife, Barbara Hale, and stolen a flat-screen TV, a doghouse and a porch swing.

The mayor could not be reached for comment Thursday.
