Paramount City logoThe City of Paramount will join the California Urban Forests Council (CaUFC) for AMPlifying the Urban Forest, an urban tree-planting event on March 12, 2022 at Progress Park Plaza. The event will be hosted by California Urban Forest Council (CaUFC), West Coast Arborists (WCA), Taylor Guitars, the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and the Britton Fund.

“Our city trees are a vital part of what makes Paramount a great place to be,” said Paramount Mayor Brenda Olmos. “AMPlifying the Urban Forest will bring the community together to add to our developing urban canopy, and make Paramount a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable place to live.”

The Mayor will join dozens of community volunteers and event partners to plant trees, learn how trees contribute to community wellness and develop the knowledge and tools to maintain the newly-planted trees through their life cycles.

Paramount will be one of 28 municipal agencies across California to host an urban tree planting event on March 12. Between those cities, nearly 2,000 trees will be planted that day. The event’s effect will benefit the residents of Paramount by enhancing air quality, abating pollution, offsetting carbon emissions, mitigating heat, and lessening the effects of severe weather.

Participants will have an opportunity to win a Taylor GT Urban Ash, a guitar that reuses wood sourced from urban trees at the end of their life cycle –completing the trees’ journey from seed to shade to song.
