City of Ventura logoThe City of Ventura is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Fiske as the new chief building official in the Community Development Department. Mr. Fiske, who joined the City of Ventura in 2019, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. Over the years, he has held several key positions within the department, including building inspector, senior building inspector, building inspection supervisor and building division supervisor.

“We welcome Tim Fiske as our new chief building official. Tim’s extensive experience and commitment to innovation have already significantly impacted our department,” said Rachel Dimond, community development director. His vision for a customer service-oriented division aligns perfectly with our goals of promoting safety and economic development in Ventura. We look forward to seeing continued positive changes under his leadership.”

Tim Fiske holds an associate degree in Building Inspection and Construction Management from Ventura College and numerous certifications from the International Code Council (ICC). He is also a certified access specialist (CASp) from the Division of the State Architect. His extensive background includes seven years focusing on residential remodeling and addition work, followed by roles in warehouse management and construction project management.

Before joining the City of Ventura, Mr. Fiske worked as a project manager for Tony Carlos Construction, where he managed federal government projects at NBVC Port Hueneme, Point Mugu, San Nicolas Island and the Wilshire Federal Building. His diverse experience has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of public and private sector construction management.

Mr. Fiske’s tenure with the City of Ventura has been marked by his dedication to integrating technology into the field and enhancing inspectors’ access to codes, handouts and other tools to increase productivity. He currently serves on the Ventura Region International Code Council executive board as immediate past-president and is a part-time instructor in the Construction Technology program at Ventura College.

“I am honored to step into the role of Chief Building Official for the City of Ventura. My journey with the city has been enriching and I look forward to continuing our efforts to enhance safety and efficiency in our community. By streamlining the permit process and integrating advanced technology, we aim to make Ventura an even better place to live, work and play,” said Tim Fiske.
