City of Riverside logoThe City of Riverside has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023.

The Certificate of Achievement recognizes government entities that exceed the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to embrace transparency and full disclosure. It is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“This award reflects our unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial reporting,” said Kristie Thomas, Finance Director of Riverside. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire finance team.”

Riverside’s ACFR includes comprehensive data on the city’s financial position and operations, offering a complete and transparent picture of the City’s financial health. An impartial panel found that Riverside’s ACFR met the high standards of the Certificate of Achievement program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate Riverside’s financial story and encourage people to learn more about the City’s finances.

The certificate demonstrates a commitment by the City of Riverside and its management to maintaining high standards in financial reporting and transparency. It not only underscores the City’s commitment to these principles, but also helps to build trust with residents and stakeholders.
