City of Baldwin Park logoThe City of Baldwin Park and our Baldwin Park Police Department are aware of ongoing protests throughout Los Angeles County related to immigration enforcement efforts by the federal government. The City has a long history of supporting its immigrant community, regardless of immigrants’ legal status.

“As Mayor, I speak and advocate for all members of our community, including our undocumented immigrant residents,” said Baldwin Park Mayor Alejandra Avila. “The City firmly supports your membership in our community. I recognize that for many this is a scary time, and I hope you know that the City of Baldwin Park and Baldwin Park Police Department support the wellbeing of all our residents.”

The Baldwin Park Police Department also issued an update to the community noting Baldwin Park Police Department does not participate in the enforcement of civil immigration laws. That responsibility belongs to the federal agencies, not local law enforcement.

“Our Baldwin Park police officers are not involved with immigration enforcement activities, and in no way are we participating in their federal actions. The men and women of Baldwin Park Police Department are committed to ensuring that our city continues to be a place where people feel respected, supported, and safe,” said Police Chief Robert Lopez. “We strongly encourage everyone to not assault law enforcement, commit vandalism or otherwise engage in illegal behavior against any law enforcement.”

As always, If you are a victim of a crime, a witness, or in need of police assistance, please call the Baldwin Park Police Department. (Your immigration status will not be asked.)

The City of Baldwin Park will continue to provide everyone with police services regardless of their immigration status.
