The City of Marina announces the appointment of Kristan Maurer as Fire Chief, bringing more than 26 years of distinguished fire service experience to the role.
Maurer retired in May 2025 after a distinguished career with Clark County Fire District 6 in Washington State, where she began as a Firefighter/Paramedic and advanced through every rank in the organization before serving as fire chief. Throughout her career, she developed a reputation for strategic leadership, operational excellence, fiscal responsibility and a strong commitment to firefighter and community safety.
“I am honored to join the Marina community and serve as its next fire chief,” said Chief Maurer. “Throughout my career, I have believed that strong relationships, professional excellence and community trust are the foundation of an effective fire service organization. I look forward to working alongside Marina’s firefighters, City leaders and residents to continue building a safe and resilient community.”
Maurer holds a Bachelor of Science in Paramedicine from Central Washington University and a Master of Public Administration from Anna Maria College. She is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program and the Los Angeles Fire Department Leadership Academy.
A respected voice in the fire service profession, Maurer has served as President of the Washington Fire Chiefs Association and currently serves on the Board of the NW Fire Diversity Council. She is also an instructor and curriculum contributor committed to the development of future fire service professionals.
Maurer brings broad expertise in emergency response, organizational development, capital planning, workforce development and regional partnerships. She and her family look forward to becoming an integral part of the Marina community.
