City of Palmdale logoThe City of Palmdale, in partnership with EPIC and with support from Homeboy Electronics Recycling, Nutter Consulting, and community partners Antelope Valley Partners for Health and SALVA, hosted a free laptop distribution event for prequalified senior residents on Tuesday, June 16, at Legacy Commons.

During the event, 70 refurbished laptops were made available to local seniors who are 55+, helping expand access to digital tools, online resources and technology that can support daily life, communication, education and essential services.

“Access to technology is no longer a luxury — it is essential for staying connected, informed and engaged,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “This event reflects Palmdale’s commitment to helping our senior residents access the tools they need to participate fully in today’s digital world.”

In addition to the laptop distribution, the event featured digital access tools, digital literacy assistance and tech support to help residents feel more comfortable using their devices. The laptops were provided through a partnership with Homeboy Electronics Recycling.

“Bridging the digital divide requires strong partnerships and practical hands-on assistance,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “By working with our community partners, we were able to put real tools directly into the hands of residents who can benefit from them.”
