A financial framework developed as part of the City’s new financial management system is being recognized as “Gold Standard” for other government agencies.
As part of the implementation of the City’s new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Tyler Technologies’ implementation consultant has requested permission to use Cupertino’s newly redesigned Chart of Accounts as a model for other local governments undergoing similar system upgrades.
A Chart of Accounts is the framework that organizes how the City tracks, reports, and manages its finances. City staff conducted a comprehensive review and redesign to streamline the framework, improve usability, and support the City’s long-term financial management needs.
“This recognition speaks to the quality and thoughtfulness of the work that has gone into designing the City’s new financial framework,” said City Manager Tina Kapoor. “We’re proud that our work may help other local governments strengthen their financial systems and plan for the future.”
The redesigned framework has been successfully imported into the City’s new ERP system, marking a key milestone in implementation. It will help support sound financial management, transparent reporting, and responsible use of public resources for the Cupertino community.
