City of Grover Beach logoOn Oct. 13, the Grover Beach City Council appointed Claire Momberger to the District 3 Council seat, previously held by former Council Member Kathy McCorry-Driscoll. Momberger will serve the  remainder of the unexpired term through December 2028.

“We are thrilled to welcome Claire Momberger to the City Council,” said Grover Beach Mayor Kassi Dee. “She  brings invaluable expertise in environmental land use, infrastructure and sustainability at a crucial time for our  City. This appointment process highlighted the incredible talent and civic passion we have in Grover Beach, and  we appreciate every resident who applied.”

Momberger brings extensive public-sector experience in regional land use and environmental planning and  currently serves as a Senior Planner for the County of San Luis Obispo Department of Planning & Building. Her  professional career has centered on community resource management, housing policy, infrastructure planning  and water conservation. Momberger earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Protection  and a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences and Management with an emphasis in Hydrology.

A Grover Beach resident for more than three years, Momberger is a small business owner alongside her husband,  an active community volunteer and a member of Grace Central Coast for nine years.

“I am deeply honored to join the Grover Beach City Council and serve the residents of District 3,” said Momberger.  “My long-term commitment to the Central Coast depends on addressing our City’s challenges thoughtfully and  sustainably. I look forward to working closely with my fellow Council Members, City staff and community  members to advance the best interests of Grover Beach.”

Candidate interviews were conducted during an open public meeting on Oct. 13 prior to the vote. Following  McCorry-Driscoll’s resignation in August, the Council voted on Aug. 24 to fill the vacancy via an appointment  rather than calling a special election, saving the City an estimated $300,000 in unbudgeted election costs.

Momberger took the Oath of Office immediately following her appointment and will assume the regional  committee assignments previously held by McCorry-Driscoll, including Central Coast Community Energy (3CE),  REACH and the Visit SLO CAL Advisory Committee.
