Ranked as the 3rd safest city in California, the City of Moorpark is located within 30 minutes from Ventura County beaches near the communities of Malibu, Calabasas, and Thousand Oaks, and is less than an hour from Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. This position offers a unique opportunity to imagine, create, and coordinate the City’s economic development programs and activities, including business retention, growth, and attraction; policy development; property acquisition and disposition; management of real estate transactions and development agreements; workforce development and job creation; development of marketing efforts to promote the City as a tourist destination; and revitalization of the heart and soul of the community – historic downtown High Street.
The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to work in local government and willing to make a positive impact in the community with a passion for creativity and innovation while utilizing excellent customer service and communication skills. A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience with public agency economic development programs, projects, and activities, including two years of supervisory responsibility. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or business administration, urban planning, finance, economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is desirable
The salary range for the position is $91,374.40 – $122,886.40 annually with a 2% cost-of-living adjustment scheduled for July 2022 and the position is eligible for 5% annual merit increases. The City also offers a generous benefit package.
