The City of Palmdale is pleased to announce the appointment of Sal Mendez as the new assistant city manager, effective Tuesday, January 16. Mendez brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of dedicated public service to this key leadership role.
“Sal is a respected professional with strong experience in public utilities and the energy sector. Our team at City Hall will benefit from his experience with capital projects – as those remain a top priority for our City Council and community,” stated Ronda Perez, city manager. “We are continuing to build a strong team of professionals in Palmdale to help us deliver for the community. They are smart, passionate about public service and dedicated to the residents and businesses of Palmdale.”
A distinguished public servant with over six years of experience as a public works director, Mendez is recognized for his commitment to fostering sustainable growth and development within the communities he has served. His leadership has propelled Palmdale into a more sustainable future, leaving an indelible mark on infrastructure and the City’s overall well-being.
Mendez is a proud alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Mendez later continued his education at California Polytechnic University, Pomona, by obtaining a master’s in public administration.
Sal Mendez’s academic achievements, combined with his extensive practical experience, have provided him with a comprehensive understanding of community dynamics and effective governance.
