The City of American Canyon is pleased to announce the appointment of Juan Gomez as Interim Assistant City Manager. Gomez, who has served as the City’s Finance Director since January 2023, assumed his new role on Nov. 14, 2024.
“Juan has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of our City’s operations during his tenure as Finance Director,” said City Manager Jason Holley. “His financial expertise, combined with his commitment to public service and firsthand knowledge of our community, make him the ideal candidate to serve in this role.”
In his new position, Gomez will assume additional responsibilities, including overseeing the City’s day-to-day operations, managing human resources and information technology services and providing strategic guidance to City officials. He will continue his duties as Finance Director, ensuring continuity in the City’s fiscal management while bolstering the executive leadership team.
Prior to joining American Canyon, Gomez accumulated more than 15 years of government finance experience, having held positions at West County Wastewater, the cities of Fairfield and Pleasanton and Contra Costa Water District. Gomez also holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University, East Bay.
