Following an extensive search, the Orange City Council is proud to announce the appointment of Orange native Jarad Hildenbrand as the next city manager.

Hildenbrand comes from the city of Laguna Hills, where he has served as city manager since 2022, and has also held city manager roles in the cities of Stanton, La Habra Heights, and Villa Park. He will take over the post from retiring City Manager Tom Kisela, who has led the city since November 2022 after retiring as chief of the Orange Police Department.

“I’m very happy with our council’s choice for our new city manager,” Mayor Dan Slater said. “Between his city manager experience and solid background, Orange will definitely be in very capable hands.”

An experienced city leader, Hildenbrand is focused on driving fiscal responsibility, operational efficiency, and strong community engagement. As Orange’s city manager, Hildenbrand will oversee a General Fund budget of approximately $156.2 million and a workforce of more than 700 full-time employees. The city looks forward to Hildenbrand’s leadership as Orange focuses on long-term fiscal sustainability, promoting economic growth, and improving organizational efficiency.

“I am deeply honored and grateful to Mayor Slater and the City Council for their trust in me,” Hildenbrand said. “Having grown up in Orange, this opportunity feels like a homecoming. Go Spartans! I am eager to get started and ready to make a positive impact on our community. I look forward to addressing the challenges ahead and to working together to continue moving our city forward, ensuring we preserve our values and historic character.”

A graduate of Villa Park High School, Hildenbrand holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Long Beach and a bachelor’s degree in public administration from California State University, Fullerton. He is married to his best friend, Jessica, with whom he shares three children, Ryleigh, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Teagan, 6.

Hildenbrand is slated to officially join the city on August 11. The City Council is set to formally approve his contract at its June 24 meeting.
