City of Calabasas logoNew state funding, shuttle service, and seasonal programs strengthen mobility options

The City of Calabasas is making major strides in transportation, combining safety upgrades with innovative transit programs to keep the community connected.

In 2025, the City was awarded $865,530 in state grant funding through the California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans) Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). The federally funded program finances local efforts to reduce traffic crashes and improve highway safety. Calabasas will use the funds to upgrade 22 intersections with high-visibility crosswalks, advanced warning signs, retro-reflective signal backplates, and pedestrian accessibility improvements. Three new guardrails will also be installed at high-crash locations to reduce roadway hazards.

“These grant dollars are a testament to our City’s dedication to proactive safety improvements,” said Mayor Peter Kraut. “Thanks to this funding, we can move forward with meaningful improvements that save lives and improve daily travel for everyone who lives here or visits Calabasas.”

Alongside infrastructure improvements, Calabasas continues to expand its transportation options. The Calabasas Flyer provides reliable weekday shuttle service connecting neighborhoods and schools, shopping districts and community attractions. By offering a low-cost alternative to driving, the Flyer reduces congestion while making travel easier and more sustainable.

During the summer, the popular Calabasas Beach Bus takes youth and families from Calabasas to Malibu, alleviating traffic on Pacific Coast Highway and promoting fun, environmentally friendly travel.
