Mayor Eddie Martinez announced the launch of the Mayor’s Citywide Beautification Initiative, a $1.5 million investment to improve the safety, accessibility, and appearance of Huntington Park’s most traveled streets. The City Council adopted a resolution in support of the initiative on March 24, 2026, funding Phase I improvements along Pacific Boulevard and Florence Avenue.

Phase I will deliver micro-surfacing and restriping along Pacific Boulevard from Slauson Avenue to Florence Avenue; replacement of damaged sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and curb ramps; targeted street lighting upgrades; and new and upgraded bus shelters along both corridors.

“I grew up in Huntington Park. These streets and sidewalks are part of who I am,” said Mayor Eddie Martinez. “Every family in this city deserves to walk out their front door into a community that feels clean, safe, and cared for. This initiative is about investing in the dignity of our neighborhoods and the quality of life our residents deserve.”

“By leveraging transportation funds already available to the city, we are delivering meaningful improvements to our two most prominent corridors while protecting our General Fund for other critical services,” said Ricardo Reyes, City Manager, City of Huntington Park.

Pacific Boulevard serves as Huntington Park’s principal commercial corridor, drawing residents, shoppers, and visitors from across Southeast Los Angeles. A cleaner, safer, and more accessible boulevard strengthens the local economy, supports small businesses, and affirms the city’s commitment to making Huntington Park a destination our community is proud to call home.

The project is funded entirely through Measure R and Measure M transportation funds with no impact on the city’s General Fund. City staff will advance planning and design for Phase I and return to the City Council with bid documents for construction authorization.
