A posting on the city of Santa Ana’s website confirms that Mayor Miguel Pulido is getting health insurance benefits from both the city of Santa Ana and the Orange County Transportation Authority.
The posting, which refutes a statement made by City Manager Dave Ream’s office, details all compensation of City Council members. A Voice of OC story today revealed that Pulido is collecting about $33,000 in benefits from the two agencies.
OCTA policy requires that directors pay 100 percent of the cost of health insurance offered by the agency if they also receive insurance from another source.
From Santa Ana, Pulido collects $15,275.76 in health and dental benefits — an expensive package compared to most of the six other council members, who generally collect packages priced between $6,040 and $6,540. Only one other council member, Vincent Sarmiento, collects a medical benefit as pricey as Pulido’s.
Pulido also takes advantage of a $20,000 life insurance policy sponsored by the city.
The document also lists other benefits and money streams, including meeting stipends, an auto allowance and dental insurance.
