Janelle Cameron will be San Leandro’s next Assistant City Manager, City Manager Fran Robustelli announced this week. Cameron most recently served as the Administrative Services Director for Hayward Area Recreation and Park District. She will begin September 13.
“I am humbled to be chosen as San Leandro’s next Assistant City Manager,” she said. “The opportunity to support the City Council, City Manager Robustelli and the amazing employees is an honor of a lifetime. I am especially grateful to serve the citizens of a community that is near and dear to my heart. I lived there for many years, and my daughter, nieces and nephew were longtime San Leandro Crusaders.”
Cameron, who holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College, will oversee the City’s Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Library departments. Among the key initiatives she will lead are development and implementation of the City’s race and equity work; implementation of a new Financial system; community engagement in the budget; and Police Oversight implementation.
“Janelle’s work co-chairing HARD’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) program and implementation of an automated financial systems are notable and will help move San Leandro forward well into the future,” said Robustelli. “She also brings leaderships skills of collaboration, communication and accountability, all which will add to our team of highly skilled professionals.”
