City of Perris Officials announced Wendell Bugtai as the new Assistant City Manager on Monday, June 27, 2022.
“I am proud to announce that Wendel Bugtai has assumed the position of Assistant City Manager,” said Perris City Manager Clara Miramontes. Mr. Bugtai’s experience in public and private sector development and administration will complement our dynamic leadership team in Perris.” Mr. Bugtai has more than 20 years of local government experience at city, county and private sector level having worked in public administration, public and private sector development and planning, project management and community development, including land management and land use policy. Most recently, he has been with the County of Riverside since 2019 having served as Land Use Policy Advisor for the Riverside County Supervisor’s Office District 2.
“I’m looking forward to serving the City of Perris and even more excited to be working with the City Council and city staff to accomplish some amazing things moving forward.” said Bugtai. “I believe the city will be a major player in creating some unique experiences not just in the commercial, industrial and residential areas, but also in the quality-of-life arena as well. That being said, I am thrilled to serve as the City’s next Assistant City Manager.”
Mr. Bugtai holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy and Management from the University of Southern California (USC) and is a candidate for a 2023 Masters of Public Administration from California Baptist University. He also holds certificates from University of Southern California (USC) Sustainability Summit Executive Education in Public Policy Certification, Toro Landscape and Irrigation Workshop Certification, South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Dust Control Certification and a Microsoft Project Certification.
Mr. Bugtai has been with the County of Riverside since 2007. Before joining the Supervisors office, Mr. Bugtai served as Agency Program Administrator – Ombudsman with the Transportation Land Management Agency and as an Urban Regional Planner for the agency as well. Prior, he worked as a Project Manager/ Forward Planner with KB Homes in Pomona, Ca and as a Community Development Manager for Shea Homes in Corona, Ca. He also served with the City of Riverside as an Assistant City Planer from 2002-2003.
Through his in-depth understanding of the public and private sector, Mr. Bugtai has proven results in building deeper relationships and streamlining development processes between private sector businesses and government institutions.
Mr. Bugtai enjoys his spare time playing tennis, investing and checking out new restaurants throughout the region.
