Under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires water systems to provide an annual water quality report to all consumers. The 2021 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) prepared by the Grover Beach Public Works Department is now available on the City’s website. Drinking water for Grover Beach is analyzed and tested on a regular basis to ensure compliance with all State and Federal water quality standards.
The purpose of the CCR is to raise customer awareness about the quality of their drinking water, where their drinking water comes from, what it takes to deliver water to their homes and the importance of protecting drinking water sources.
“The Public Works Department is proud to release the Annual Water Quality Report which demonstrates our dedication to ensuring high quality drinking water to the residents of Grover Beach,” said Public Works Director Greg Ray. “Our employees work diligently to deliver drinking water that meets or exceeds the safety and quality standards set by the State and Federal governments. We hope this report will allow customers to learn more about how the City of Grover Beach supplies high quality drinking water and what they can do to help keep our water clean.”
Grover Beach receives water from Lopez Lake, the deep Careaga formation well and the shallow Paso Robles formation wells. In the past year, the Public Works Department conducted 1,500 tests for over 75 drinking water contaminants. They tested for microbial contaminants, nitrate, arsenic, pesticides, herbicides, organic chemical contaminants, radioactive contaminants and many more. The tap water complied with all State and Federal water quality standards.
The CCR also shared information pertaining to the statewide drought and reminded customers of the active Stage 2 Water Shortage condition in Grover Beach. The current water use restrictions require all customers to reduce their water consumption by 10% and prohibit water wasting citywide. To empower all water customers to do their part in conserving water, the report details where customers can find their bi-monthly Water Budget on their billing statement and what they can do to reduce their water consumption and prevent contaminants from entering the water sources.
In an effort to be environmentally responsible, the City of Grover Beach has made a digital copy available for viewing and downloading on the City’s website.
