At its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2022, the Santa Clarita City Council officially approved an agreement with Kaiser Permanente for the healthcare provider to become the presenting sponsor of the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. The five-year agreement will rename the facility as the “Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, presented by Kaiser Permanente.”
“This is a wonderful partnership that will benefit not only visitors to the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center but all residents in the City. Kaiser Permanente is a leading healthcare provider in the region and – like the City – is committed to supporting the health and wellness of all. By becoming the presenting sponsor of the Aquatic Center, our residents will further see the positive impact of that commitment,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste.
Kaiser Permanente is a nationally recognized healthcare system with a mission to promote healthy communities. Kaiser Permanente has been a City of Santa Clarita sponsor for over a decade, continuing to support health and wellness events and activities, including the Santa Clarita Marathon, Youth Sports Expo and Amgen Tour of California.
“As a non-profit healthcare organization, improving health and providing opportunities to thrive where we live, work and play is core to our mission. Good health starts in our communities and we are proud to partner with the City of Santa Clarita at the Aquatic Center providing a variety of programs to help the community stay healthy and have fun,” said Pattie Clausen, Senior Vice President and Area Manager for Kaiser Permanente.
The Santa Clarita Aquatic Center opened in 2003 and features three swimming pools, including an Olympic-sized competition pool, a 25-yard-by-25-meter multi-use pool with one three-meter and two one-meter diving boards, and an activity pool with a zero-depth entry, water play features and a two-story, 168-foot water slide. The facility attracts more than 150,000 participants and spectators annually.
The City’s Business Sponsorship Program began in 2007 as a way to strengthen partnerships with the business community. Through the program, the City partners with local, regional and national business brands to enhance and improve the user’s experience and to provide value through integration with City events, programs and facility naming rights.
