LYNWOOD, CA – The City of Lynwood is proud to announce it has been awarded a $3.35 million grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s CalHome Program. This will support first-time homebuyers and offer assistance for owner-occupied home rehabilitation to low-income residents.

“This grant is a tremendous opportunity for our community,” said Lynwood Mayor José Luis Solache. “This helps make the dream of homeownership a reality for many of our low-income residents and supports current homeowners in making essential repairs and improvements to their properties.”

The grant will provide funding for two key initiatives:

  • The Mortgage Assistance Program – Provides deferred payment loans with low interest rates to support eligible first-time homebuyers.
  • The Owner-Occupied Manufactured Program – Offers loans to assist eligible homeowners with repairs or rehabilitation of their Manufactured homes. It is aimed at low-income seniors, persons with disabilities and families who own and occupy their homes.

The program, administered by Global Urban Strategies on behalf of the City, will guide recipients through the entire process of securing a loan. For housing applicants, the household income cannot exceed 80% of the Los Angeles County Area Median Income. First-time homebuyers are eligible to receive up to 40% of the purchase price for the property or up to $200,000 for traditional homes or $100,000 for manufactured homes. Qualified homeowners can receive up to $100,000 for home repairs, full reconstruction or unit replacement of their manufactured homes, not on a permanent foundation

This program represents an essential opportunity for the City of Lynwood to enhance homeownership and home stability for many of its low-income residents, supporting both the local economy and community well-being.
