The City of Tustin is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Thuilliez as the new Chief of Police, effective March 18, 2025. City Manager Aldo Schindler made the official announcement today, following an extensive recruitment process to identify a leader who will continue the City’s commitment to public safety and community engagement.

Thuilliez brings over two decades of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as the Chief of Police for the City of Beaumont. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his leadership in public safety innovation, community engagement, and officer development. His extensive background in modernizing police operations and fostering community trust will be a tremendous asset to the Tustin Police Department.

“I am excited to welcome Chief Thuilliez to the City of Tustin,” said City Manager Aldo Schindler. “His vast experience, forward-thinking leadership, officer development and strong commitment to public safety make him the ideal choice to lead our Police Department. I have full confidence that he will build upon our strong foundation and further enhance the safety and well-being of our community.”

Tustin Mayor Austin Lumbard also expressed his support for the new appointment, stating, “Chief Thuilliez’s track record of community-oriented policing and operational excellence aligns perfectly with Tustin’s values. His passion for public service and innovative law enforcement strategies will ensure that our city remains a safe and welcoming place for all residents.”

Thuilliez holds a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands and a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, POST California Command College, and has held leadership roles in key law enforcement associations, including serving as the 2nd Vice President of the California Police Chiefs Association.
