The Vacaville City Council is proud to announce the selection of Savita Chaudhary as the next City Manager for the City of Vacaville, following a highly competitive nationwide search. Ms. Chaudhary brings more than two decades of progressive public service leadership and a record of innovation, equity and community engagement to her new role.
A longtime Vacaville resident and respected municipal executive, Ms. Chaudhary is most recently serving as Assistant City Manager for the City of Fairfield, where she has led cross-departmental initiatives and supervised multiple City departments. Prior to this, she held executive roles including Director of Information Technology for the City of Fairfield, Director of 311 Call Center and Information Technology for the City of Berkeley and Information Technology Division Manager for the City of Vacaville.
Ms. Chaudhary has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to good governance, data transparency, fiscal responsibility and inclusive civic engagement. She has successfully led economic development collaborations, strategic planning efforts, large-scale technology initiatives and emergency operations. Her leadership has earned multiple professional accolades, including the 2024 Women Leading Government Career Excellence Award.

Ms. Chaudhary holds a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University, a Master of Science in Statistics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Delhi University, India. She is an active member of several esteemed professional organizations, including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), California City Management Foundation, Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC), Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC) and the Metropolitan Information Exchange (MIX). She also serves on the Governance, Transparency and Labor Relations Policy Committee of the League of California Cities, representing the City Managers’ Department.

The Vacaville City Council is expected to take action to approve Ms. Chaudhary’s appointment and employment agreement on May 13 during the regular City Council meeting. She will officially assume her new role as City Manager on June 30. Her appointment signals a strong commitment to continued innovation, strategic growth and responsive governance in Vacaville.
Outside of her professional commitments, Savita enjoys yoga, Pilates and hiking with her family, taking full advantage of Vacaville’s parks and recreational spaces. Her family moved to Solano County from Houston, Texas in 2003 and made Vacaville their home for its strong sense of community, and safe and welcoming environment.
City of Vacaville Assistant City Manager GeorgeAnne Meggers-Smith will serve as interim City Manager following the retirement of current City Manager Aaron Busch, effective May 23, 2025.
