Federal transportation funding will support pavement improvements on a key Roseville corridor

The City of Roseville has been awarded $3 million in federal transportation funding to support resurfacing improvements on Fiddyment Road, one of 24 projects receiving funding through the Sacramento Area Council of Governments’ (SACOG) 2026 System Preservation Grant Program(Opens in new window).

The preventative maintenance resurfacing project covers more than 11 lane miles and includes associated work such as federally-required Americans with Disabilities Act improvements, traffic signal repairs, utility adjustments, and buffered bike lanes to improve safety.

The project was among five Placer County projects prioritized for consideration through the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency before being submitted to SACOG’s competitive funding program. The project has a total estimated cost of $4.7 million, with the SACOG award providing $3 million toward the work. The remaining project costs will be covered by City of Roseville General Funds.

“Proactive maintenance is a key part of being good stewards of Roseville’s infrastructure, helping us extend roadway life and make the most of available funding,” said Assistant Public Works Director Stefanie Kemen.

SACOG’s System Preservation Grant Program focuses on maintaining existing transportation infrastructure, including roads that support transit, freight and goods movement, key destinations, and commercial corridors. The 2026 funding cycle awarded approximately $46 million to projects in 17 communities across the six-county Sacramento region. Roseville’s $3 million award is among the largest individual awards in the program.

“Through the System Preservation Program, SACOG and our regional partners are making smart, cost-effective investments. By addressing maintenance needs today, we can reduce costs tomorrow and support the long-term vitality of our communities. We are proud to partner with local agencies advancing this important work,” said Jill Gayaldo, SACOG board chair and City of Rocklin councilmember.

For Roseville, maintaining Fiddyment Road helps preserve an important connection to jobs, schools, shopping and essential services in a growing area of the city. Reliable roadways also help ensure goods can continue to flow throughout the area.

The regional awards are part of SACOG’s broader 2026 federal funding cycle, which will allocate $203 million for transportation investments. The funding supports projects intended to preserve existing infrastructure and improve transportation connections throughout the region.

For Roseville, the Fiddyment Road investment will help advance the City’s ongoing efforts to preserve its $1.7 billion roadway network and maintain infrastructure that serves residents, businesses, and visitors.

Construction is anticipated in 2030, with additional information about the schedule, traffic impacts, and other details to be announced as the project moves closer to construction.
