City of Glendale logoThe City of Glendale announces that Bradley Calvert, Director of the Community Development Department, will be departing the City to pursue a new leadership opportunity.

Calvert joined the City in 2018 as the Assistant Director of Community Development. He was appointed as Director of Community Development in September 2022. The Community Development Department is made up of: Housing & Homeless Services, Development Services, Neighborhood Services, and Long Range Planning.

He has played a role in guiding strategic planning and community-focused initiatives that shaped Glendale’s growth and quality of life. Under his leadership, the Community Development Department advanced projects and programs, including the ongoing update to Glendale’s General Plan.

Some recent accomplishments in the Community Development Department include the Housing Division earning its 23rd consecutive “High Performer” designation from HUD while opening two new affordable housing developments: Harrower Village and Citrus Crossing. The department also underwent structural changes, integrating Homeless Services with Housing, establishing Long Range Planning as an independent division, and merging Building and Safety with Planning to create a new Development Services division focused on streamlined customer service.

In the interim, the Community Development Department will be overseen by City Manager Roubik Golanian, who will work closely with department staff to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. The department remains actively engaged in several significant projects that require executive oversight, and maintaining operational stability during this transition will be a priority.

The process to identify and recruit a permanent Director of Community Development will begin immediately to ensure strong and sustained leadership moving forward.

“Bradley has made lasting contributions to Glendale’s strategic goals,” said City Manager Roubik Golanian. “We thank him for his commitment to our community and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.”
